How does Microneedling work?

Microneedling is a well-studied therapeutic technique known as collagen induction therapy or CIT. Collagen and elastin are essential building blocks of our skin that provide structure, support, and elasticity. Creating microscopic, controlled trauma to the skin and the subsequent healing process increases collagen and elastin production by up to 400%. As a result, your skin will be fortified and appear more supple, hydrated, and tight. Scar tissue from acne and other origins becomes less prominent because of the generation of healthy collagen strands and the breaking down of the old fibrotic strands. Mirconeedling with CosmoPen is a corrective and preventative treatment for signs of aging and other skin concerns. At Cataleya Aesthetics, we offer microneedling with serums that match your skin needs, collagen masks, plasmatherapy (PRF), and sometimes as a combination treatment with our chemical peels.

What is the Pricing of CosmoPen Microneedling?

A single treatment for the full face is $450, and for the face and neck is $500. Package prices are available for multiple treatments. PRF/Plasmatherapy can be added to your treatment for $325. Check out our Membership Program; it includes two yearly microneedling sessions!

Which Microneedling device is used at Cataleya Aesthetics?

Cataleya Aesthetics uses a medical-grade, high-speed microneedling system called CosmoPen (France). CosmoPen features accurate and consistent speed and depth settings and utilizes sterile disposable tips small enough to access difficult to reach areas.

Is Microneedling with CosmoPen painful?

Most people experience none to very mild discomfort during Microneedling. A topical anesthetic is applied 25 minutes before procedures requiring deeper settings. No anesthetic is needed when very superficial settings are used during chemical peel and microneedling combo treatments.

Am I a candidate for CosmoPen Microneedling?

Microneedling suits all skin types and can address multiple concerns, such as aging, scarring, and unwanted pigmentation. Microneedling contraindications include active acne breakout, active cold sores, open lesions or wounds, active infection, moderate to severe eczema or psoriasis, scleroderma, and severe keloidal tendencies.

How long is the downtime?

Downtime is minimal. Your face might be reddened and tender for about 1-3 days after the treatment. We recommend avoiding makeup for about 24 hours after your procedure. After that, using gentle skin care and daily sunscreen is advised.

How soon will I see the results?

You will see subtle improvements after just one treatment. However, 3-5 treatments might be recommended depending on your concerns, end goals, and skin assessment. We recommend repeating treatments every 2-4 weeks. However, collagen synthesis takes time, and your skin will continue improving over the next six months, especially when a great skincare regimen is followed at home.

What should I do before my treatment?

• Avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen daily for at least two weeks before treatment.
• Avoid topical irritant agents for one week before treatment.
• Avoid taking blood thinning medications for one week before your treatment if medically permitted by your physician.
• Arrive at your appointment with a clean face and no makeup.

What should I expect during my treatment?

• All your questions and concerns will be addressed.
• We will ensure you are comfortable and your privacy is protected.
• Your skin will be cleansed with a medical-grade antiseptic, and the numbing cream will be applied for approximately 25 minutes.
• After removing numbing cream, your skin will be disinfected with alcohol. As microneedling starts, your practitioner will apply serums, PRF, or other customized solutions matched to your unique skin needs.

What should I expect after my treatment?

• Depending on the type of treatment, the procedure might be completed by placing a collagen mask, Oxygen dome, or LED light over the treatment area.
• Your skin might look reddened and feel tight and tender to touch for 1-3 days after the procedure.
• Your provider will go over post-procedure instructions and give you a copy to take home.
